Mindset of a Home Baker: How to Know When To Give Up

What do you do when you don’t want to do “this” any more?

I’m not talking “a little burnout.”

But soul-deep dislike. Dislike with the career you’ve picked. Disillusionment with the path you’ve gone on. A true unhappiness that is beyond lack of sleep, or temporary unease due to hormones or illness or weather. A knowledge that, while at one time this was for you, it is no longer.

But you’ve worked so long at it! Look what you’d be giving up! You’re finally seeing some success, and people would be so disappointed in you.

Not me.

See, the thing is, while your business was changing, you were too.

And that’s wonderful! Amazing! Exactly what should happen! If you’re not growing, you’re dying. And while you were changing, you discovered this thing, this amazing business baby of yours that you nurtured, and grew, and made an amazing success, is not what you want anymore.

I’m here to tell you that I want you to be brave enough, strong enough, empowered enough, to not only realize when where you are is not working for you anymore, but ENOUGH to do something about it.

And that’s the really hard part. Do you remember the fear, the scariness, the uncertainty of a new venture when you’re just starting out? You’re facing that again, all over again, just when it had finally gotten easy.

If what you are doing is not feeding your soul, it is starving it. Taking away nourishment from that which will give you the greatest sense of fulfillment, of days worth the pain, of years worth the effort.

You cannot allow fear of the unknown keep you from trying. You’re going to fail occasionally, that goes hand in hand with success. But if God or the Universe has given you a desire for MORE, then you have the capability within you (if not the skills yet, although those will come with effort) to succeed at this new thing.

Do not let this desire within you starve. Feed it. Nurture it just like you did the thing you’re giving up. For something better. You deserve to be happy. You deserve to be fulfilled. You deserve a life better.
